William Thomas Page: A Short History

Page Lodge No. 3378 was consecrated on 10th September 1909 by VW Bro. Sir E. Letchworth, Grand Secretary of The United Grand Lodge of England. Located within the Masonic Province of Worcestershire, our regular meetings take place at The Worcester Masonic Centre, Rainbow Hill, Worcester WR3 8LX.

Our lodge is named after one of its founding members and first Master, Very Worshipful Brother William Thomas Page, who was the Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Worcestershire at the time. Born in Great Malvern, Worcestershire in 1849, VW Bro. Page lived through the great Age of Empire and worked as a Civil Engineer specialising in Railway Signalling.

Initiated into Freemasonry in the Semper Fidelis Lodge No. 529, Worcester in 1882, he embarked on a Masonic career spanning over five decades. In 1893, he married Florence from Birkenhead, and they resided at Lynthorpe, 37A Bromyard Road, Worcester. Their son, William Frank, known as Frank, was initiated into Page Lodge by his father in January 1919, marking a unique and special occasion for both father and son.

Frank served in the South Wales Borderers and fought in Gallipoli and Mesopotamia during WWI. He later became Worshipful Master of the Haven of Peace Lodge No. 4385 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in 1944.

William Thomas Page passed away on 5th November 1933, aged 84, after a long illness. He is buried in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire and guide the brethren of Page Lodge 3378.
